Steve Papermaster

Steve G Papermaster, Nano chairman and CEO, graduated with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981 with a BBA degree, majoring in Finance, with a minor in Biology.

Mr. Papermaster has 30 years of experience as a technology entrepreneur and is also a public policy expert, noted author and global speaker. From 2007, Mr. Papermaster has been the chairman and co-founder of JUCCCE, an NGO and non-profit organization based in Shanghai that is currently leading the push for the efficient use of energy and technology in China.

From 2001 to 2017, Mr. Papermaster sat as committee chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, appointed by President George W. Bush and serving two terms in the White House in this role. He also advised the US Secretaries of Energy from 2001 to 2009, formulating budgets, plans and priorities for the Department of Energy.

Steve G Papermaster enjoys a range of recreational pursuits, including soccer, American football, marathon running, downhill and Nordic snow skiing, and water skiing.

Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Mr. Papermaster has previously won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and went on to serve on the award’s US judging panel. He is also the co-founder of the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur of the Year program and chairs the Ernst & Young World Alumni Network. Mr. Papermaster has formerly served as a judge for the White House Fellows, one of America’s most prestigious programs for public service and leadership.
