Steve is a technology entrepreneur and public policy expert who is highly experienced in founding, growing and funding innovative technology companies around the world. He is the founder, CEO and chairman of Nano, a health technology company working to bring the same innovation and radical change to health that technology and network platforms have brought to other areas of life in recent history.

Steve has founded, led or served as a board member for several private and publicly traded companies, including LabNow, Moxie, Medaphis, Powershift Group, ROME Corp. (acquired by TriplePoint Technologies), TechRepublic (acquired by CNET Networks), Perficient (NASDAQ: PRFT), Vignette Corp. (NASDAQ: OTXT), Per Se Technologies (NYSE: MCK), Tipping Point Technologies (NASDAQ: HP), Novell and BSG Corp. 

Steve spent two terms in the White House serving as a senior advisor to former U.S. President George W. Bush on domestic and global strategy for innovation, technology, healthcare and science. As a presidential advisor, he helped lead the National Nanotechnology Initiative, the Human Genome Project and the White House Fellow, one of America’s most prestigious programs for leadership and public service.

During his service in the White House, Steve co-founded and co-chaired JUCCCE (Joint US –China Collaboration on Clean Energy), a Shanghai-based NGO and non-profit organization pushing for efficient use of technology and energy in China. As an advocate of entrepreneurial involvement in public policy, Steve co-founded TechNet Texas and joined the National Executive Committee of TechNet, the leading bi-partisan technology industry-lobbying group and collective brain trust of greater Silicon Valley.

Steve was awarded Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” award in the U.S. and went on to serve as a U.S. judges chairman for the program. He later co-founded the “World Entrepreneur of the Year” program and has served as judge, chairman or master coach for 15 years. Steve actively speaks on the topics of entrepreneurship, technology, science and public policy, including at recent events convened by World Economic Forum, Fortune Magazine’s Brainstorm Conference (keynote), TED, Fortune Global Forum, GigaOM, MIT Forum: Future of Energy in China (keynote), Dreamforce, World Entrepreneur of the Year, McKinsey Global Forum, Global Humanitarian Forum, AlwaysOn, and more.

Steve co-authored the book “Smart Life” (published in Mandarin by CITIC), a guide to technology innovation that drives major social changes around the world. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin School of Business.
